Fleming: GAO Report Confirms Abortion Advocacy Groups Receive Federal Funding

Statement

Congressman John Fleming, M.D., released the statement below following the Government Accountability Office's (GAO) report showing that six abortion advocacy groups received $481 million in federal funding between 2010 and 2012, and about $1.2 billion in additional shared federal and state funds. Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in America received the bulk of this funding.

"Planned Parenthood performs almost 900 abortions each day, making up 94 percent of the three pregnancy services they claim to provide. Meanwhile, prenatal care and adoption referrals only account for around 6 percent. These groups are not here to support women; they are here to provide abortions and the public deserves to know this. Abortion has and always will be the taking of an innocent human life and no one should be forced to pay for abortion services through their tax dollars.
