Issues: Education

U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) today introduced an amendment to the Every Child Achieves Act, bipartisan education reform legislation being considered by the Senate, to reauthorize the Education Flexibility Partnership Act of 1999. The program, commonly known as Ed-Flex, gives states and local school districts more freedom to develop innovative reforms.

"In Texas and across the country, important education reforms are able to take root because of the flexibility offered under Ed-Flex," Sen. Cornyn said. "Students are best served when education decisions are made by the people closest to them -- parents, teachers and local school districts -- and this amendment will help ensure that happens."
