Menendez, Booker Announce $1.7M in Federal Grants for NJ Fire Departments

U.S. Senators Bob Menendez and Cory Booker (both D-N.J.) today announced a combined $1,656,362 in federal Assistance to Firefighter grants (AFG) to improve safety and operations in Collingswood, Camden City, Pennsauken and Jackson Twp. The AFG program is administered by the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

"We must do everything we can to ensure our first responders have the tools necessary to protect our communities on a daily basis," said Sen. Menendez. "These grants will allow our fire departments to operate more efficiently and ensure our firefighters are properly equipped to protect themselves and keep residents safe."

"We must ensure that the brave men and women serving as first responders have the latest equipment available in order to best protect themselves and our communities," said Sen. Booker. "This funding is essential to improve safety and operations at our firehouses and I will keep fighting to bring more resources home for firefighters throughout New Jersey."
