Stutzman Statement on Afghan President Ashraf Ghani's Speech to a Joint Session of Congress

Today Congressman Stutzman released this statement following President Ghani's remarks to a joint session of Congress.

"President Ghani's visit to the United States and his address to a joint session of Congress represent another step toward strengthening the relationship between the American people and the people of Afghanistan. Both countries must remain steadfast and united in our struggle against international terrorism.

"For more than a decade, members of the United States military, diplomatic corps, and humanitarian groups have sacrificed greatly for the future of Afghanistan and I was comforted to hear President Ghani relay a sincere message of appreciation for those efforts. We must never forget those who have made sacrifices for freedom and peace on behalf of others. Going forward, I am hopeful that we will continue to work together in pursuit of our common goals."
