Today, Congressman Kevin Cramer made the following statement after an amendment sponsored by Congressman Paul Gosar (R-AZ) and cosponsored by Congressman Cramer cut $61 million from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and redirected the majority of the funds to the Bureau of Indian Education System Operations and Maintenance Account (BIE). The amendment is now part of the Department of Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2016.
"From their unconstituaional Waters of the United States power grab to their regulatory overreach with the Clean Power Plan, the EPA is an agency pursuing an extremist environmental agenda. These funds are better spent by the BIE giving Native American children access to the same educational opportunities provided students at non-tribal schools," said Cramer.
