Labrador Statement on House Passage of Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act

Statement

Date: May 13, 2015
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Abortion

Rep. Raúl Labrador, R-Idaho, issued the following statement after the House approved H.R. 36, the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which would prohibit any person from performing an abortion on an unborn child 20 or more weeks after fertilization:

"I am encouraged by today's demonstration of support for protecting the unborn through passage of the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. There is strong medical evidence that unborn children can feel pain at 20 weeks or earlier. This bill protects these children by restricting the horrific practice of ending their lives before they can draw their first breath. I am committed to promoting a culture of life in this country to ensure that every American is valued, protected and given the chance to reach their potential."
