Moolenaar, Kildee Wager Lunch on Congressional Baseball Game for Charity

Representative John Moolenaar (R-Midland) and Congressman Dan Kildee (D-Flint) have agreed to wager famous Michigan products on the result of this week's Congressional Baseball Game for Charity.

Charitable proceeds from the game will go toward the Washington Literacy Council, The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington and the Washington Nationals Dream Foundation.

If Moolenaar and the Republicans win the game, Kildee will send Moolenaar coney dogs from Angelo's Famous Coney Island in Flint.

If Kildee and the Democrats win the game, Moolenaar will give Kildee a legendary BLT from Tony's in Birch Run, stacked with a pound of bacon.

"I am excited to celebrate our national pastime and to be a part of this great tradition. I look forward to a Republican victory and having some coneys," said Moolenaar.

"Playing in the Congressional Baseball Game for Charity gives Democrats and Republicans a different way to compete, all while raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for charity," Congressman Kildee said. "Democrats are ready for another victory this year and I can't wait to enjoy one of Tony's legendary BLTs from Birch Run."

Moolenaar, in his first term, will be making his first appearance in this year's game. Kildee, in his second term, will be making his third appearance.

The Congressional Baseball Game will be played at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, June 11at 7:05 PM. The game was first played in 1909.
