Statement: Congressman Young on EPA's Renewable Fuel Standards Timeline

Statement

Date: April 10, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

In response to the EPA's timeline for issuing Renewable Fuel Standards (RFS), U.S. Congressman David Young released the following statement:

"The delay from the EPA in issuing a timeline for Renewable Fuel Standards has been frustrating because I know that Iowa farmers, businesses, and all who operate in the renewable fuel sector, want certainty. Regardless of your position on RFS, no one benefits from delays and unpredictability.

"The EPA's responsibility for sharing annual targets -- and the guidance that provides is very important. I am glad an agreement was reached on a timeline, so that this discussion can move forward.

"In Iowa we lead the nation in ethanol production and we are second in biodiesel production. I am committed to a strong renewable fuel standard moving forward."
