U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-WY), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs (SCIA), praised the Senate's passage of S.230, a bill to provide for the conveyance of certain property to the Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation located in Bethel, Alaska. S. 230 is sponsored by Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK). It passed out of the SCIA on May 11, 2015. The bill will now go to the House of Representatives for consideration.
"Transferring this land is important to the Alaska Native people in southwest Alaska," said Chairman Barrasso. "This bill is an example of the Senate coming together to get things accomplished for Native communities. I urge the House of Representatives to take up this measure soon."
