Collins, GA House Republicans Oppose Obama Administration Proposed Ammo Ban

Press Release

Date: Feb. 26, 2015
Issues: Guns

Georgia House Republicans joined Congressman Doug Collins (GA09) today to oppose a new Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Bureau "framework" that would effectively ban common ammunition for America's most popular rifle, the AR-15, according to recent reports.

"The Obama Administration could not get approval from the public or Congress for its liberal gun control agenda so has decided to ignore the language of the law and our Constitution, in order to undermine our Second Amendment Rights,"said Rep. Collins in a statement accompanying his letter with Representatives Earl "Buddy" Carter (GA01), Lynn Westmoreland (GA03), Tom Price (GA06), Rob Woodall (GA07), Austin Scott (GA08), Jody Hice (GA10), Barry Loudermilk (GA11), Rick Allen (GA12) and Tom Graves (GA14).

"My House partners and I are determined to prevent this federal agency's new interpretation of 30-year old settled law that protects police officers, while also protecting law-abiding sportsmen from regulatory overreach," he said.

Rep. Collins is a member of the Congressional Sportsman Caucus and the House Judiciary Committee. Please click below for a copy of his letter to BATFE Director B. Todd Jones.
