Rep. Doug Collins Statement on Israel PM's Iran Warning

Statement

Northeast Georgia's Congressman Doug Collins released the following statement, after attending Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech to a joint session of Congress today:

"P.M. Netanyahu delivered a powerful warning to the American people about a potential nuclear deal with our committed enemy, the Islamic Republic of Iran, which has attacked U.S citizens and soldiers many times. We must not give its radical leaders, making belligerent statements even now, during the Administration's nuclear negotiations, any flexibility to develop more weapons, which the President's deal would allow.

"The regime's commitment to destroying free democracies near and far is the reason the House passed -- and the President signed -- 2014's U.S.-Israel Strategic Partnership Act. It included language of my Qualitative Military Edge (QME) bill to ensure that Israel, our strongest regional ally, will be able to defend itself -- and also the United States.

"Israel is truly on the front line of the fight against terrorism, and my bill to increase its security strengthens our country's as well. At a time when radical Islam, both Iran and ISIS, is on the march, we should not seek hasty peace deals, like the one the Administration is proposing, but re-commit to our common defense."
