Congressman Doug Collins (GA09) released the following statement, after voting yesterday for the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, falling on the two-year anniversary of the Robert Gosnell abortion clinic scandal. When he served in the Georgia legislature, Rep. Collins, a House Judiciary Committee member, voted for his home state's version of the pro-life bill:
"All life is sacred. And now we know from science that babies in their mothers' wombs feel pain like the rest of us. To protect more of them from harm, I voted for today's bill, prohibiting late-term abortions with very limited exceptions. The United States is one of only seven countries, including China and North Korea, that allows the abhorrent procedure. These are just some of the reasons Americans, especially caring people of Northeast Georgia, support a ban. We're dedicated to affirming God's gift to all of us, even the smallest."
