U.S. Senator Susan Collins released the following statement after reports that Vice President Biden's son, Beau Biden, passed away:

"My heart aches for Vice President Joe Biden and his wife Jill who have lost his son Beau to cancer. There is nothing worse than for a father to lose his child. The Bidens and Beau's wife and two children are in my prayers."
