Cramer Statement on Status of Trade Promotional Authority

Today, Congressman Kevin Cramer joined a majority of the U.S. House of Representatives to vote in favor of Part II of Motion to Concur in the Senate Amendment to H.R. 1314, the Trade Act of 2015 more commonly known as Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) by a vote of 219 - 211. Part I, known as Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) failed by a vote of 126-302. In order for the package to be signed in to law, the House will need to reconsider Trade Adjustment Assistance.

Congressman Cramer has indicated his intention to support Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) if it is brought before the House next week in order to move Fast Track Authority forward.

"While the vote in favor of TPA by the House today was a significant step forward, our work is not yet complete. The Democrats in the House need to come back to the table and support passage of Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA). President Obama should work with Nancy Pelosi and members of her caucus if he wants TPA legislation to advance," said Cramer.
