Date: Feb. 12, 2015
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Veterans

Today, U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) released the following statement after President Obama signed the Clay Hunt Suicide Prevention for American Veterans (SAV) Act into law:

"I am pleased that President Obama signed the Clay Hunt Suicide Prevention for American Veterans (SAV) Act into law today. I am proud to be an original cosponsor of this critical legislation which will improve access and quality of mental health care and help reduce veteran suicides.

We have a special obligation to serve our those who have worn the uniform and served their country. It is unacceptable that suicide claims the lives of an estimated 22 veterans a day. This bill is an important step in the right direction toward improving the care that all of our veterans and their families have sacrificed for and deserve."
