Governor Hassan Applauds House Passage of SB 221

Statement

Date: June 3, 2015
Location: Concord, NH

Following the vote by the House of Representatives to pass SB 221, relative to electric rate reduction financing, Governor Maggie Hassan issued the following statement:

"Senate Bill 221 is critical to the success of the divestiture agreement that was reached earlier this year with Eversource and other stakeholders, which will help avoid protracted litigation, minimize impacts on ratepayers and allow us focus on building an energy future that is more innovative, reliable and affordable. We know that we must continue to diversify our energy sources and reduce costs while working to protect our natural resources, and this bipartisan bill is an important step forward towards that goal.

"I thank Senator Bradley and Senator Feltes for their leadership on this issue, as well as the entire state team, and Meredith Hatfield in particular, for their hard work. I applaud the House Science, Technology and Energy Committee for their efforts on this legislation and the House for their overwhelming bipartisan support of this bill. I urge the legislature to agree on a final version of this important bipartisan legislation and send it to my desk as quickly as possible so that I can sign it into law."
