Governor Maggie Hassan issued the following statement after today signing Senate Bill 31, relative to the controlled drug prescription health and safety program:
"The rising rates of opioid and heroin abuse represent one of the most pressing public health and safety challenges facing our state, straining our families, hurting the productivity of our workers and undermining the safety of our communities. Our prescription drug monitoring program is an important part of our ongoing efforts to address our substance misuse challenge.
"Senate Bill 31 will allow us to apply for the next round of federal funding and make other functional improvements to strengthen this critical program, including facilitating better coordination across state lines. I applaud Senator Bradley and legislators from both parties for working to strengthen the health and safety of our communities, and I am proud to sign this bipartisan legislation into law."
