Congressman Ryan Zinke Protects East Rosebud Creek

Today Montana Congressman Ryan Zinke introduced the "East Rosebud Wild and Scenic Rivers Act," a bill to protect portions of the East Rosebud Creek that are entirely on public land and run through Carbon County into East Rosebud Lake. The bill would amend the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act to include this treasured Montana waterway.

"In Montana our land, and water is our way of life, and the East Rosebud Creek provides some of the best recreational activities in the country," said Rep. Zinke. "Activities like fishing, hunting, camping, paddling, hiking, rock climbing, and wildlife watching help drive Montana's multi-billion dollar outdoor recreation industry. The East Rosebud Creek, and the surrounding areas, alone generate millions of dollars annually for the local communities. The beauty and bounty of our land is limitless. I'm proud to stand with Montana's 64,000 outdoor industry workers to defend our heritage and preserve our natural resources for generations to come."

Since being sworn in on January 6, 2015, Ryan Zinke has been a steadfast defender of Montana public lands and the outdoor recreation industry. In addition to introducing the East Rosebud Wild and Scenic Rivers Act, Zinke also helped introduce the Recreational Fishing and Hunting Heritage and Opportunities Act, the Outdoor Recreation Enhancement Act, the National Forest System Trails Stewardship Act, and voted against a budget resolution that allowed for the sale of some public lands.

Montana's multi-billion dollar outdoor recreation industry supports 64,000 jobs in the state, is responsible for more than $5.8 billion in consumer spending, and contributes $1.5 billion in wages and salaries. In total, the industry contributes more than $400 million in local and state tax revenues.
