Governor Rick Scott Awards St. Lucie County Officer with the Medal of Heroism

During today's meeting of the Florida Cabinet, Governor Rick Scott recognized St. Lucie County Deputy Sheriff Paul Pearson with the Medal of Heroism for his bravery and quick actions during a dangerous situation.

Governor Scott said, "The bravery of Deputy Sheriff Pearson demonstrates his fearless dedication to ensure the safety of his community. I am honored to present him with the Medal of Heroism and thankful for the service of our law enforcement officers who work each day to protect Florida's families."

St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken Mascara said, "While Deputy Sheriff Paul Pearson had the most dangerous assignment at his position in the entryway, he willingly undertook this responsibility and continued to support his team in the face of extreme danger. His actions that day attest to his bravery and dedication and Deputy Pearson is highly deserving of the Medal of Heroism."
