Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2015

Eastern Connecticut has a long and proud history of supporting our nation's defense. From the sailors at Submarine Base New London, to citizen soldiers training at National Guard facilities across the region and cadets training at the Coast Guard Academy, eastern Connecticut plays a critical part our national security and homeland defense. As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, I take seriously my responsibility to protect and defend our nation, as well as supporting our men and women in uniform.

That is why I am working to:

Continue increased production of new Virginia Class submarines and the development of the Ohio-class submarine replacement -- two programs that are critical to the future of our region.

Invest in the future of Naval Submarine Base New London and ensure that it has the resources, infrastructure and support it needs to accomplish its mission.

Advocate for Connecticut's defense industrial base, made up of hundreds of companies and thousands of employees who work every day to support our nation's defense.

Ensure that our men and women in uniform have the equipment, resources and support they need to protect and defend our country.
