I sent an email update on Tuesday about Cap-to-Cap, when hundreds of Sacramento area leaders come to Washington, D.C.
This week I'm taking part in an important event for our region: the 45th annual Cap-to-Cap.
What's Cap-to-Cap? Short for Capitol to Capitol, it's when hundreds of local business leaders, elected officials, and other stakeholders from the Sacramento area come to Washington, D.C. to meet with their elected representatives to share their priorities and learn more about how we can help on issues that are important to our region. This is the largest meeting of its type in our nation's capital.
Listening is my most important job, so Cap-to-Cap is always a critical time for me to connect with Sacramento area leaders. We've already discussed important issues such as education and workforce training, transportation, Sacramento's water issues, and much more.
Organized by the Sacramento Metro Chamber of Commerce, Cap-to-Cap is important for moving our local economy forward. Working together, business and government can build an economy that works for everyone. Government should be a strategic partner for growth, not an obstacle.
That's why my office holds workshops for local businesses to connect them with resources from federal agencies, such as the Small Business Administration, which they can use to grow and hire.
We also have a new Help for Businesses page on my website with information on a variety of resources and help for Sacramento area businesses. If you or someone you know is a business owner, or if you're thinking about starting a new business, I hope you will visit this new page to learn more.
You can also always call my office at (916) 635 0505 for help, and I hope you will consider forwarding this email to others so they can learn how to get help too.
It is an honor and a privilege to work for you. I hope you won't hesitate to share your thoughts with me.
Be well,
Ami Bera, M.D.
Member of Congress
