Polis Hosts Telephone Town Hall on Middle-Class Economics Thousands of Coloradans call in with ideas, feedback

More than 3,000 Coloradans participated in a telephone town hall hosted by Representative Jared Polis (D-CO) on Tuesday night. The town hall focused on issues important to the middle class and featured Christopher Lu, Deputy Secretary of Labor, and Jeff Zients, Director of the National Economic Council and Assistant to the President for Economic Policy.

During the town hall, which lasted roughly an hour, Representative Polis, Director Zients, and Deputy Secretary Lu fielded an array of questions from constituents throughout the district. Topics covered included education, infrastructure, trade, and small business policy.

"The Congressman has been a very strong champion for his district," Zients said. "Together, we've been working to advance policies that create opportunities for the middle class -- from making college more affordable to ensuring a fair working environment with good jobs and good wages, to helping entrepreneurs and small businesses create jobs."

"Washington doesn't have a monopoly on good ideas, and often the best ideas come from our constituents back home," Polis said. "As we pursue economic policies that create jobs, support the middle class, and help move Colorado forward, it's important to make sure that those in my district have every opportunity to share their ideas. It is also incredibly valuable to hear first-hand about the issues that impact Coloradans on a daily basis and how our office can best serve their needs. Town halls like these, both over the phone and in-person, are one of the best ways to do that."
