Dear Secretary McDonald,

After 35 years of service to our nation's veterans, the Director of the VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System, Isabel Duff, has decided to retire. As you know, activating the new hospital has been a tremendous undertaking, and I appreciate all Ms. Duff has done to move the project forward, including opening of the inpatient units of the medical center, 24/7 ancillary services, the Women's Health Center, and planning for the Fisher House.

I now respectfully request that you work to quickly find a highly qualified replacement for Ms. Duff. Southern Nevada is home to more than 155,000 veterans; that number is expected to increase considerably over the next decade. It is critical that the VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System has a highly qualified leader to ensure that our nation's heroes are receiving the best care possible. As construction and activation activities continue at the new hospital, it is also important that the new director have significant experience initiating new health care services.

I am confident that you will quickly begin the search for a new director. I thank you for your attention to this issue and offer my services as needed.

Sincerely,

Dina Titus
Member of Congress
