Cramer: House Energy and Commerce Committee Advances Bills Beneficial to Electric Utility Customers

Statement

Congressman Kevin Cramer joined a bi-partisan majority of his colleagues on the U.S. House of Representatives Energy and Commerce Committee to pass two bills beneficial to electric utility customers in North Dakota. H.R. 1734, the Improving Coal Combustion Residuals Regulation Act passed the committee by a vote of 32-19 and H.R. 906, A Bill to Modify the Efficiency Standards for Grid-Enabled Water Heaters passed on a voice vote by the committee.

"Both of these bills will benefit consumers, save jobs and protect the environment. HR 1734 seeks to improve EPA's final rule issued in December by giving state's enforcement and permitting authority, and providing clarity and certainty to industry. HR 906 exempts grid-enabled large water heaters from U.S. Department of Energy's regulations ensuring their continued production and use. These water heaters are widely used by many utilities as demand response tools. I look forward to seeing the full House of Representatives pass both of these bills," said Cramer

Congressman Cramer is a member of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. He serves on the Subcommittee on Communications and Technology, the Subcommittee on Environment and the Economy, and the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.
