Today, Congressman Kevin Cramer released the following statement after the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) released its Quadrennial Energy Review (QER) to the public.
"The QRE points out what I and many others have been talking about for a long time -- America needs to update our country's outdated energy policy and modernize our aging energy infrastructure. The report highlights many areas where there can be agreement among Democrats and Republicans. On the differences, I and many others have with the this Administration, we both need to look for areas of compromise. However, if we as a nation are going to take a serious first step towards modernizing our energy infrastructure it must begin with building the Keystone XL pipeline. The commitment to build the pipeline lays the foundation for projects to make America's energy future sound and secure. I have seen America's energy revival firsthand over the past few years and we are in the best position possible to create a future with the United States driving energy decisions across the globe. It begins with the immediate lifting of the current ban on exporting crude oil. We can all agree it is better if countries all across the globe came to depend on America's energy exports rather than being at the whim of dictators and despots who control much of the world's energy markets. I look forward to working with my colleagues, the administration, industry experts and consumers to modernize our nation's energy policy."
