Today, Congressman Kevin Cramer congratulated ComDel Innovation and Altavian on their successful completion of the first unmanned aircraft system (UAS) manufactured in North Dakota at their plant in Wahpeton.
"North Dakota is becoming the epicenter of UAS research, development, production and training in the United States. I congratulate the teams from the ComDel Innovation and Altavian as well as the community of Wahpeton for this fantastic achievement," said Cramer.
This milestone in UAS development in North Dakota comes just one day after the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) granted "blanket" authorization for small UAS operated at one of six approved test sites, including North Dakota, to fly up to 200 feet above ground level anywhere except in restricted airspace and near airports and heliports. This is in addition to the much broader authorization North Dakota's test site received in February of this year.
"North Dakota's UAS stakeholders are working day in and day out to ensure it remains the best and most attractive option for companies and the government in their continued testing and development of unmanned aircraft technology," commented Cramer.
