McCaul Statement on American Charged with ISIS-Inspired Bomb Plot in Kansas

On the same day Homeland Security Committee Chairman Michael McCaul attended a ceremony at Ft. Hood where Purple Hearts were awarded to soldiers injured in the 2009 Ft. Hood terror attack, the FBI arrested an American citizen near Ft. Riley in Kansas who was inspired by ISIS. Below is a statement from Chairman McCaul.

Chairman McCaul: "I commend our hardworking law enforcement professionals for taking another would-be terrorist operative off the streets. But I am alarmed by the rapid increase in terror threats against our homeland. There have been more than a hundred violent jihadist plots or attacks in the United States since 9/11, and the overwhelming majority have occurred or been uncovered in the past five years. This arrest is a reminder that the war against Islamist terror is not being waged on foreign battlefields alone but requires us to be vigilant in our own communities. We need to do everything in our power to ensure that another terrorist attack on our military bases, and our homeland, never happens again."
