Statement by Chairman McCaul on Death Penalty for Boston Marathon Bomber

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was condemned to death today by a federal judge for his role in the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing. U.S. House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Michael McCaul, R-Texas, released the following statement:

Chairman McCaul: "My heart goes out to the families of those killed and wounded in the Boston attack. I hope the sentencing today helps bring closure to those affected and assurance in the due process of justice. I commend the brave men and women in law enforcement, other first responders, and the selfless civilians who risked their own lives to assist those injured during the attack. While this sentencing brings this particular case to a close, we must never forget this terrorist attack and the lessons learned from it. Today's sentencing shows that Americans will not stand for terror attacks on the homeland, or anywhere."
