Cohen Statement on the Reestablishment of Diplomatic Relations with Cuba

Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today released the following statement regarding the Administration's announcement on the reestablishment of diplomatic relations with Cuba:
"I support the President's move to chart a new course in our relationship with Cuba. Our current policy has done little to help the Cuban people, and the Castros still rule the nation as they did when we instituted these policies more than 50 years ago. The reestablishment of diplomatic relations with Cuba is a humane and logical path forward that will enable the United States to more effectively promote change in the country and support the Cuban people, and it may one day open more trade opportunities for Memphis and the Mid-South."
