Current State school funding formulas favor rural localities whose elected officials control the House of Delegates. The existing formulas give too much weight to income and property values and do not adequately take into consideration the higher cost of running schools in Northern Virginia or the diversity of our student population. The state's education funding needs to be updated to reflect our unique challenges in Fairfax County.
