Today, Congressman Bennie G. Thompson (MS-02) released the following statement urging the United States Senate to swiftly confirm Loretta Lynch as Attorney General of the United States of America:
"For over five months, Loretta Lynch's confirmation as Attorney General has been held hostage. A legislative body that has confirmed Lynch not once but twice as United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York now holds her confirmation in limbo as a purely political tactic. Lynch's character and her ability to handle the responsibility of the position have never been called into question. She has more than 30 years of public service experience and has consistently delivered justice and results for the communities she has served. I urge the United States Senate to release Lynch's nomination and confirm her as this country's next United States Attorney General," said Congressman Thompson.
