Today, U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-WY), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs (SCIA), praised the Committee's passage of S.438, the Irrigation Rehabilitation and Renovation for Indian Tribal Governments and Their Economies Act (the IRRIGATE Act).
"Today, the Committee moved forward in passing bipartisan legislation that will help improve irrigation systems in Indian Country," said Chairman Barrasso. "These projects were intended to be a vital source of income and economic development for the tribal and surrounding communities. The Federal government's promise to tribes to build and maintain these projects needs to be fulfilled and advancing this bill is a big step in the right direction."
