Statement

In the first six weeks of the year the House has passed 42 bills, and all but one of them has received bipartisan support. We have passed bipartisan bills to provide tax relief for families and small businesses, create more job opportunities for veterans, stop the negative consequences of the President's health care law, combat human trafficking, and more. Although President Obama has threatened to veto many of these bills, we will continue working on this positive agenda to promote opportunity for everyone.

Weekly Update:

Hosted constituent coffee hours in Northfield Township and Dundee to answer questions and listen to your concerns

Pressed the IRS Commissioner for answers regarding the agency's rehiring of employees with serious misconduct and performance problems

Attended an Education and the Workforce Committee mark up on the Students Success Act, legislation to reduce the federal footprint, restore local control, and empower parents and education leaders

Voted to send the Keystone XL Pipeline Approval Act to President Obama's desk. Building this pipeline will boost economic growth, create good-paying jobs, and help secure our energy future.

Supported bipartisan tax certainty legislation to simplify the tax code, deliver permanent tax relief for farmers and small employers, and encourage charitable contributions

Met with the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments to discuss important ways the local and federal government can work together
