House Passes Walberg-Backed Bills to Combat Human Trafficking

Statement

Congressman Tim Walberg voted for a bipartisan package of bills to combat the growing problem of human trafficking. The bipartisan bills passed by the House of Representatives will equip law enforcement officials with additional resources to prevent the heinous crime of human trafficking and provide victims with added support. Yesterday, Walberg managed the floor debate for the Education and Workforce Committee's trafficking legislation.

"Human trafficking is not just a concern in foreign countries, it is happening right here in the United States and many times in our own backyards," Rep. Walberg said on the floor. "Federal and state officials, law enforcement, the courts--all have a moral obligation to eradicate trafficking and support its victims. It will take close coordination between all stakeholders to achieve the dual goals of ending the human trafficking epidemic and assisting the victims."
