Today Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen issued the following statement on International Women's Day:

"Today we mark the countless contributions women make to our world. They lead countries. They own businesses. They teach, create, inspire, protect, and nurture. But far too often, women are not afforded the rights they deserve and the value they are due. America has made important strides towards equality, and I am proud to have been a part of the effort to pass the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act and ensure women have access to quality and affordable health care. But we still have more work to do. Here at home, I will keep fighting to make sure women get equal pay for equal work, paid sick leave, high quality childcare, and opportunity for all. And across the globe, we must improve the security, education, and human rights for all women."
