Van Hollen Welcomes Alan Gross to New Congress Swearing-In Reception

Today Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen welcomed Alan Gross at a reception following the swearing in of the new Congress. Van Hollen recently travelled to bring Alan home from Cuba, where he had been imprisoned for five years.

"I am thrilled to have Alan and Judy Gross on hand to celebrate the swearing in of the new Congress. Throughout these difficult five years, it has been an honor to work with them both," said Congressman Van Hollen. "Alan Gross did not ask to shape history -- he was unjustly swept up in the conflict between the United States and Cuba. But in the end, Alan proved to be a catalyst for much needed change. As we move forward with the 114th Congress, he and Judy serve as a testament to perseverance and an inspiration for us all."
