Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5)hosted the 34th Annual Military Service Academy Forum this evening at the Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. The forum was an opportunity for Fifth District students and their parents to learn about applying for admission at the five United States Service Academies.
"There are a range of opportunities available to students who are thinking about a career in the military and I was honored to host a forum tonight for them to learn more about the service academies and military careers," said Congressman Steny Hoyer. "The young people that joined us tonight are our future military and civilian leaders and were here because they want to serve our country in the highest possible way."
"Throughout my years in Congress, I have been honored to nominate the Fifth District's best and brightest to our service academies," continued Congressman Hoyer. "I am delighted to nominate students of exceptional quality. Out of 71 interviewees last year, we nominated 35 to the four service academies, and I am pleased that, to date, 10 of the Fifth District candidates have been offered appointments. We live in a changing world with global security challenges that require constant vigilance and readiness, and we need motivated young people now more than ever."
