Kennedy, Keating Announce Over $225K in Federal Grants for Fall River

Congressman Joe Kennedy (MA-4) and Congressman Bill Keating (MA-9) today announced that Fall River will receive $226,000 in federal grants from the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The grants will be provided to the Fall River Housing Joint Tenant Council to support public housing programs throughout the city.

"Strong investment in our public housing systems can provide families and senior citizens with the support necessary to live independently," said Congressman Joe Kennedy. "This Housing and Urban Development Grant will bring needed resources to Fall River and help them provide housing, workforce training and critical assistance to citizens who need it most."

"The population of seniors in our country is expected to grow significantly in the next two decades, and there will continue to be a need for affordable housing so that our senior citizens can live safely and with dignity," said Congressman Bill Keating. "This program, which is a public-private partnership, will also assist our friends and neighbors with disabilities with housing and essential support services such as job training. I believe this worthwhile grant will have a positive impact on Fall River and its residents."

The grant was provided through the Resident Opportunity and Self-Sufficiency (ROSS) Service Coordinators Program.
