Ayotte Statement on President's Request for Authorization of the Use of Military Force

U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, today released the following statement regarding the president's request for an authorization for the use of military force against ISIS:

"I have long called for the president as Commander in Chief to submit a proposed Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF) against ISIS, and I am pleased he has finally sent his proposal to Congress, which has an important constitutional responsibility regarding the use of military force. As the Senate begins hearings on the language and scope of the AUMF, I want to learn more about whether the president is prepared to fully execute an effective strategy to defeat ISIS under the terms of this AUMF."
