AYOTTE LETTER TO SECRETARY JAMES:

February 24, 2015

The Honorable Deborah Lee James
Secretary of the Air Force
1690 Air Force Pentagon
Washington, DC 20330-1670

Dear Secretary James:

I am writing to request an update regarding the Air Force Inspector General's investigation into comments reportedly made by Major General James Post asserting that service members who speak to Congress about the A-10 are committing treason.

During the Senate Armed Services Committee hearing on January 28, General Mark Welsh said that the Department of Defense Inspector General was overseeing an investigation into this matter by the Air Force Inspector General.

I am sure you would agree that we must unambiguously defend the lawful right of service members to communicate with Congress. I look forward to receiving an update on the investigation's status and reviewing the investigation's results. Thank you for your service to our country.
