Dear Friends,
With winter here in full swing, I hope that everyone in New Hampshire has taken the necessary precautions to prepare for this weekend's winter storm. This season is a time of exceptional beauty in our state, but it is important to stay safe and always be prepared.
This week I was proud to announce that Derry native and Army veteran David Taylor will be my guest of honor at Tuesday's State of the Union address in Washington. David, a U.S. Army Specialist and former Derry Fire Explorer, served three tours in Afghanistan before suffering severe injuries from an improvised explosive device. He lost a leg below the knee as a result of his injuries.
I first met David at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center following his return from Afghanistan. We have stayed in touch since and I had the privilege of honoring him this past May at the Derry Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Day Parade. David's service and bravery represents the very best of the United States and all those who commit to protect our country. In New Hampshire and in Derry, we are proud to call David one of our own. His story demonstrates the selflessness of our men and women in uniform and reminds us to say thank you to all of those fight for our freedoms, today and every day.
I am thrilled David will be able to join me at the State of the Union and I am grateful for the opportunity to thank him for his service. As always, I am honored to represent New Hampshire in the United States Senate.
Sincerely,
