Statement From Senator Cornyn On Army Granting Full Purple Heart Benefits To Fort Hood Attack Victims

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) issued the following statement after Secretary of the Army John McHugh announced that he has directed the U.S. Army to provide all possible benefits to Fort Hood Purple Heart recipients:

"Last week's ceremony was an important step toward honoring the heroes of that day, and I am pleased the Army has moved swiftly to ensure the Fort Hood Purple Heart recipients will receive all the benefits for which they are eligible."

The announcement comes a day after Sen. Cornyn, along with Sen. Cruz, and U.S. Reps. John Carter (R-TX) and Roger Williams (R-TX), sent a letter to Sec. McHugh urging him to ensure all Fort Hood Purple Heart victims receive full benefits.
