Fischer to Chair Senate Armed Services Subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities

This afternoon Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman John McCain announced that Senator Deb Fischer will chair the Subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities for the 114th Congress. Senator Fischer released the following statement regarding her new position this afternoon:

"I'm honored to chair this important subcommittee and thankful to Chairman McCain for his leadership. This subcommittee's jurisdiction is expected to include cybersecurity policy, and as the recent attacks on Sony Pictures have shown, current policy is failing to deter our adversaries in the realm of cyberspace."

"I look forward to working with my colleagues and members of our military to address this and other challenges as we ensure that our armed services have the tools they need to defend the nation."
