t a confirmation hearing before the Senate Armed Services Committee today, U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) delivered questions to Dr. Ash Carter, the nominee to be the next Secretary of Defense. Senator Fischer released the following statement, photos, and video after today's hearing:

"Dr. Carter would bring impressive experience to the position of Secretary of Defense, including many years at the Pentagon. Throughout the confirmation process, I've had the opportunity to discuss with him a number of issues critical to our national security such as modernizing our nuclear arsenal, eliminating waste at the Pentagon, and addressing threats to our cybersecurity. Moving ahead, I look forward to working with Dr. Carter to protect our national security and have appreciated his candor throughout this process."
