Congresswoman Alma S. Adams, a former professor and member of the House Education and the Workforce Committee today announced the introduction of a resolution she sponsored to commemorate Women's History Month by honoring the contributions women have made to education. H. Res. 176 recognizes and honors the achievements of women that have helped to create greater access to education and have helped close gender equality gaps.

"It is important for us to remember the invaluable contributions women throughout history have made to this nation and to ensure everyone has equal access to education," Congresswoman Alma Adams said. "From Dr. Charlotte Hawkins Brown, a North Carolinian who founded the Palmer Memorial Institute in 1902, to Helen Magill White becoming the first American woman to earn a Ph.D., women have made great strides in improving the pathway to education for all Americans."
