Heinrich Statement On Efforts To Cover Up Torture Report

U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), a member of the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, issued the following statement in response to efforts to cover up the facts of the committee's report on the CIA detention and interrogation program:

"It would be unprecedented and misguided for the Executive Branch to relinquish its copies of the full committee report. I've always believed the committee's full report on the CIA detention and interrogation program should be publicly released. But barring that, appropriately cleared U.S. government officials should have access to the full 6,900-page classified report to better understand what went wrong during that dark period. There are lessons in the study for all executive branch agencies, and those lessons should be broadly shared."
