Booker Named Top Democrat on Key Senate Transportation Subcommittee

U.S. Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J. has been appointed to serve as ranking member of the Subcommittee on Surface Transportation and Merchant Marine Infrastructure, Safety, and Security, part of the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee. The subcommittee oversees interstate transportation policy issues and focuses on safety, security, and infrastructure development related to highways, waterways, and both freight and passenger rail -- including Amtrak.

"There isn't a single New Jerseyan who doesn't count on some kind of federally funded infrastructure, whether it's our highways, our waterways and ports, or rail transportation," Sen. Booker said. "My new role on this subcommittee will allow me to work across party lines to improve infrastructure in New Jersey and across the country. These issues are of tremendous importance to growing our state's economy and creating job opportunities for New Jerseyans. I'm excited to get to work."
