Today, U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) released the following statement commemorating Martin Luther King, Jr. Day:

"We honor Dr. King today for his perseverance and extraordinary determination to eliminate inequalities and prejudices. His leadership and resilience in the face of injustice united millions of Americans and strengthened our great nation. But now, more than ever, it is clear that our work is not yet complete. Dr. King's legacy is an important reminder that equality is worth fighting for, and I am confident that if we recommit ourselves to bettering the lives of others, Dr. King's dream will become a reality."
