Pallone Applauds Obama Administration's Plan to Combat Global Climate Change

Statement

Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-6), Ranking Member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, released the following statement on the Obama Administration's transmission of the United States' Intended Nationally Determined Contribution (INDC) to the United Nations today. The submission, along with plans submitted by nearly 200 other nations, will form the foundation of an international plan to tackle climate change, which countries hope to finalize at a summit in Paris in December 2015.

"I am pleased that President Obama and the United States continue to lead the world in the fight against man-made climate change. By transmitting its Intended Nationally Determined Contribution to the United Nations today, the United States solidifies its commitment to reducing emissions by 26-28 percent from 2005 levels by 2025. Many other countries, including China and other developing nations will follow our lead shortly, increasing the momentum for a successful outcome in Paris by the end of the year. I applaud the foresight, vision, and transparency that this action demonstrates worldwide."
