President Obama's Budget Overwhelmingly Rejected by Senate

Statement

Date: March 24, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) issued the following statement after the Senate overwhelmingly rejected President Obama's 2016 budget, which he offered as a substitute amendment to the Senate Republican budget:

"Despite refusing to propose a budget of their own, today Senate Democrats overwhelmingly rejected the President's failed tax-and-spend policies that continue to sink our nation deeper and deeper into debt.

"In contrast, Senate Republicans are fighting for a pro-growth budget that balances in ten years without raising taxes, and we encourage Democrats to join with us in putting the nation back on a path to prosperity."
